WORLD BANK PROJECT 'UNFAIR'By Elliot Dawea The Rapid Employment Scheme funded by the World Bank closely monitor by the Community Policing of bypassing its intention of recruiting the unemployment people is totally unfair. Speaking at the opening of the ‘recreational event’ on Tuesday in Rove, Honiara, the sergeant Community Policing Leonard Kwai is appealing to Honiara City Council HCC in consultations with World Bank on possibilities to review the scheme. He pointed out it is very disappointing to majority of unemployment people in Honiara not recruited to the scheme which suppose to be. However Mr Kwai said it has been a public resentment since the inception of the project in 2009, men who get employed in other sectors and women who have their husband employed were also recruited under the scheme which not fair. He explained, original intention of the scheme is to employ the unfortunate ones particularly the unemployment people including youths living at the sub burbs and other settlement in Honiara. Meanwhile supporting the sentiment, HCC of Kola ward eight, Bongi Darlingi said the HCC needs to bring to close attention considering whether or not the project to be reviewed. Councilor Darlingi said the scheme is a way forward to alleviate unemployment in the country. The recreational event will be close tomorrow, Thursday 22nd September.
